Sunline Heat Pumps is the dedicated heat pump division of Sunline Energy

Sunline Energy — established 2015 — has spent a decade helping Melbourne households cut their power bills. Sunline Heat Pumps takes that same crew, licensing and rebate know-how and points it squarely at hot water.

Our story

Built because hot water quoting was a dog's breakfast

Same unit, same suburb, three quotes hundreds of dollars apart — and not one of them explaining which rebate was doing what. We figured households deserved better than that.

The problem

Hot water eats a quarter of the power bill

For most Victorian households, hot water is the second-biggest energy cost after heating. Old electric storage tanks and ageing gas units quietly burn money every single day — and nobody thinks about it until the thing fails on a Sunday night.

Where we came from

Born out of Sunline Energy, established 2015

Sunline Energy has been in the renewables game across Melbourne since 2015 — rooftop solar, battery storage, EV charging and electrical work for homes and businesses. Sunline Heat Pumps is the dedicated heat pump hot water division of that business, so you get a decade of energy-industry experience behind a specialist team.

Why we started

The quoting process was a mess

Three quotes, three different 'rebate included' numbers, and nobody willing to explain which certificates were actually being claimed. We built Sunline Heat Pumps to price hot water the way it should be priced: RRP, each rebate line itemised, final installed number.

How we work now

Specialists, not a general trades outfit

We only do heat pump hot water. That focus means our team knows the quirks of every model we sell — which units struggle on a frosty Melbourne morning, which need extra clearance, which controllers actually let you run on cheap daytime solar.

Where we're headed

Getting Melbourne off gas hot water

Every gas storage unit we replace cuts roughly a tonne of CO₂ a year. The goal is simple: make switching so easy and so obviously worth it that there's no reason to replace like-for-like.

What we stand for

Four rules we don't bend

Brand-agnostic, always

We stock a spread of brands because no single unit suits every home. If the cheaper model is the right one for your place, that's the one we'll quote.

Rebates off the invoice, not 'later'

Solar Victoria, STCs and VEECs come off before you pay. No fronting the money, no waiting on a cheque, no 'up to' pricing that moves at the door.

Do it properly or don't do it

Licensed plumbers and sparkies, compliance certificates issued, old unit decommissioned and recycled. Every job, every time.

No-nonsense advice

If a heat pump isn't right for your home, we'll tell you. We'd rather lose the sale than land you with a system that doesn't suit.

How it goes

Quote to hot water, start to finish

See how the rebates stack
01

Have a yarn

Tell us what you've got now, how many people are in the house, and where the unit sits. Five minutes on the phone or through the quote form.

02

Eligibility check

We confirm which of the three rebates you qualify for before we quote a price — so the number you see is the number you pay.

03

Fixed quote, rebates itemised

One page. RRP, Solar Victoria, STCs, VEECs, install inclusions, final price. No fine print surprises.

04

Install day

Usually half a day for a straight swap. Old unit removed, new system commissioned, compliance paperwork issued on the spot.

05

Aftercare

Warranty registered for you, claims lodged, and a real person on the phone if something plays up down the track.

Accreditation & compliance

The paperwork that actually matters

Rebates only get paid when the retailer, the product and the installer are all approved. Here's what sits behind every Sunline job.

NETCC Approved Seller

New Energy Tech Consumer Code — the national benchmark for fair sales and clear contracts.

Solar Victoria authorised retailer

Required to lodge the $1,000 standard state hot water rebate (or $1,400 for approved locally-made models) on your behalf.

Accredited VEU provider network

So your VEEC discount is applied properly at the point of sale.

Licensed plumbers & electricians

Every install signed off with a compliance certificate under Australian Standards.

Team of accredited experts

Heat pump specialists only — not a general trades outfit doing hot water on the side.

Responsible decommissioning

Old tanks removed, refrigerant handled correctly, steel recycled.

The Sunline promise

Six things you get, every job

  • A fixed installed price — not an estimate that grows on the day
  • Every rebate you're entitled to, lodged by us
  • A model chosen for your household size, not our margin
  • Old system removed, decommissioned and recycled
  • Up to 10-year warranty in writing
  • Straight answers, even when they cost us the job

Why it's worth doing

A heat pump uses roughly a quarter of the energy of an electric resistance tank and cuts about a tonne of CO₂ a year against gas. Do it once, and it keeps paying you back for fifteen-odd years.
