Where $1,702 of your price disappears

Three separate VIC incentives stack on this unit when you're replacing a electric storage. We lodge every form — you never chase paperwork or wait on a cheque.

Running costs

About $1,237 a year back in your pocket

Based on a four-person Victorian household — roughly 4,500 kWh of water heating a year at 30c/kWh. At a COP of 4.49, this unit only needs about 1,002 kWh to do the same job. Run it on the timer through the middle of the day and most of that comes off your roof, not the grid.

Every kWh you self-consume is worth 30c instead of the 3c feed-in you'd get for exporting it — that's the solar saving baked into the numbers below.

Haier · Monoblock

Straight swap for your old electric tank

The HP200M1U1P runs R290 (0.34 kg) with a COP of 4.49 and 2 kW of heating on a 195 L tank — about 35 L an hour of recovery, suits 2–3 people. It goes in exactly where an electric storage heater came out, and it runs off a 15 A plug so most swaps need no switchboard work. Warranty and service run through Fisher & Paykel here in Australia.

COP 4.49 · R290 · 43 dB · 7 yrs cylinder

Six ways to run it — SmartHQ™ app

Auto
The set-and-forget mode. Heat pump does the heavy lifting and the element only chips in when the tank can't keep up.
Eco
Heat pump only, no element. Cheapest way to run it and the mode to sit on if you're on a time-of-use tariff.
Solar PV
Takes a signal from your solar inverter and heats to 75°C on spill solar, banking free energy as hot water for the evening.
Electric
Element only. Backup mode for servicing or a proper cold snap — dearer to run, so it's not one to leave on.
Vacation
Drops the tank back while you're away, then brings it up ready for when you walk back in the door.
Boost
One-time boost for the days the house is full and someone's flogged the tank.

  • Domestic cover is 7 years on the cylinder and 5 years parts and labour on everything else — the older booklet's 7/3/3 table has been superseded by the current brochure terms.
  • Keep your proof of purchase: the installer or Haier Customer Care needs it before a service call is booked.
  • Replaced parts run out the balance of the original period, they don't restart the clock.
  • Warranty claims go through Fisher & Paykel Australia on 1300 729 948 or at haierhome.com.au — we'll lodge it for you if it's a system we installed.
01

R290 on the Monoblock range

The 200 L, 250 L and 330 L all run propane with a GWP of 3 — 476 times lower than the R134a a lot of older heat pumps still use.

02

Straight swap for an electric tank

The Monoblock installs the same way an electric storage heater does. Same spot, same pipework, no new valves in most swaps — and the 200 L and 250 L run off a 15 A plug.

03

SmartHQ™ app control

Built-in Wi-Fi and five user modes from your phone: Auto, Eco, Solar PV, Electric, Vacation and a one-time Boost.

04

Tank built to last

Patented triple-layer protection on the inner tank, cycle-tested past 160,000 cycles for corrosion resistance over its expected life.

05

Works through a Melbourne winter

Monoblock keeps running from -7°C to 45°C ambient; the Split System handles -15°C to 45°C for the cold pockets out east.

06

Fisher & Paykel behind the warranty

Warranty and service run through Fisher & Paykel Australia — nationwide customer care with spare parts warehoused locally.

Straight talk

Our honest take on Haier

What we rate
  • 7 years on the cylinder plus 5 years parts AND labour on everything else
  • R290 (GWP 3) across the Monoblock range, COP up to 4.49
  • 200 L and 250 L run off a 15 A plug — most swaps need no switchboard work
  • SmartHQ™ app with Solar PV mode that banks spill solar at up to 75°C
Worth knowing
  • The 280 L Split System runs R32, not R290
  • Split is 52 dB — mind the bedroom window
  • 330 L drops to a COP of 4.0 and 47 dB
