Running costs

About $1,265 a year back in your pocket

Based on a four-person Victorian household — roughly 4,500 kWh of water heating a year at 30c/kWh. At a COP of 6.02, this unit only needs about 748 kWh to do the same job. Run it on the timer through the middle of the day and most of that comes off your roof, not the grid.

Every kWh you self-consume is worth 30c instead of the 3c feed-in you'd get for exporting it — that's the solar saving baked into the numbers below.

Reclaim Energy CO₂ split system

The most efficient hot water we sell — full stop

One EHPE-4550P-A compressor sits outside, your 160L glass-lined tank sits wherever the site suits. It pulls 5.24 kW of heat out of 870 W of power — a COP of 6.02 — using CO₂ (R744), the only refrigerant with a global warming potential of 1. It delivers 63°C water on the heat pump alone, so there's no backup element quietly eating your bill, and it keeps working from -10°C to 43°C.

01

COP of 6.02 — the highest published in Australia

5.24 kW of heat out of 870 W in. Nothing else on our shelf gets close, and it's the main reason the Reclaim keeps winning on running cost over a fifteen-year hold.

02

CO₂ (R744) natural refrigerant

Global warming potential of 1 — the lowest of any refrigerant in hot water. It also holds output when the mercury drops, which is exactly what a Victorian winter morning asks for.

03

37 dB — whisper quiet

Quieter than every all-in-one we sell. You can genuinely stand it near a bedroom or a neighbour's boundary without a phone call about it.

04

Split design, no backup element

A compact 48 kg compressor outside and the tank wherever it suits the site. CO₂ heats water to 63°C on the heat pump alone, so there's no resistive element quietly chewing power.

05

Runs from -10°C to 43°C

Frost and freeze protection is built in, so Ballarat, Bendigo and the ranges are fair game — no cold-weather derating drama.

06

Glass-lined or stainless steel tanks

160L, 250L, 315L and 400L in both. Stainless carries a 15-year tank warranty and comes in tall or squat for sub-floor installs.

Eight controller modes — run it how your tariff runs

1 · Continuous
24 hours a day. The tank tops itself up whenever it drops below the cut-in temp — the set-and-forget option.
2 · Off-peak 1
Nine hours overnight, 10pm to 7am. Suits anyone on a controlled-load or off-peak tariff.
3 · Off-peak 2
Six hours, midnight to 6am. The tightest overnight window for the cheapest tariff block.
4 · Solar window
Six hours, 10am to 4pm — heats straight off your rooftop solar instead of exporting it for peanuts.
5 · Timer (two zones)
Two custom heating windows a day, set to whatever your tariff or solar profile looks like.
6 · Timer + temperature
Two zones plus multiple temperature set points, so you can run cooler off-peak and hotter before the evening rush.
7 · Remote one-shot boost
A dry-contact signal from your PV inverter, home energy manager or a smart switch fires a single heat-up to 59°C.
8 · Holiday mode
Idles the system while you're away with one weekly heat cycle to keep legionella control ticking over.
