What Rheem is actually about
Rheem is the default answer for a lot of Australians, and there's a reason — you can get one serviced anywhere, by anyone, and the company isn't going anywhere.
The AmbiPower® 280e is the current heat pump and it's a genuine step up on the old Ambiheat. It runs ULTRA LOW GWP R290 (340 g, GWP 0.02) with a wrap-around microchannel condenser, so the refrigerant never touches your drinking water and the tank heats faster and more evenly.
The numbers stack up too: a COP of 5.2 at 19°C ambient tested to AS/NZS 5125, 280 L of storage (236 L on element boost), and a 10-year cylinder warranty behind the Ultranamel® coating. It's manufactured in Australia and comes in 10 A Plug & Lead or 15 A hardwired, with or without the EcoNet™ Wi-Fi app.
The catch is sound — 48 dB(A) at 1 m is mid-to-loud, so mind the bedroom window. And it's a big unit at 696 mm wide by 725 mm deep, needing 350–600 mm clear each side.
