The story
What Aquatech is actually about
Aquatech Solar Technologies (ABN 68 136 584 328) engineers the X-series here in Australia and has been shifting them through the Victorian trade for years. The line-up is deliberately simple: RAPID/X6 at 225L, DYNAMIC/X8 at 268L and the bigger FUSION/X8 at 320L.
The clever bit is the footprint. The X6 drops straight into the space an electric 250L used to sit in, and the X8 into an old 400L — so on most swaps there's no new slab, no shifting pipework halfway down the side of the house, and the sparky's job stays a 10-amp single-phase hook-up.
Underneath it's proper gear: R290 natural refrigerant, a GMCC Toshiba rotary compressor, a microchannel aluminium heat exchanger and a Blue Diamond vitreous-enamel carbon steel tank. The anode is non-sacrificial impressed current, so unlike most tanks there's no anode rod to pull and replace every few years — handy in both soft and hard water areas.
Control is through an LCD panel with Wi-Fi and the Tuya app, running five modes — Eco, Standard, Hybrid, Hybrid+ and Element — plus built-in timers that default to a 9am–6pm window so the unit heats on your rooftop solar instead of peak grid power.
Why people pick it
Aquatech standouts
Replacement, not repair
A non-repairable fault inside 5 years gets you a free replacement system — tank, compressor, the lot.
No anode to replace
The impressed-current anode is powered by the unit and doesn't wear away, so there's no rod swap every 4–5 years.
Fits the old footprint
X6 suits an electric 250L bay, X8 suits a 400L — most swaps are a same-day job with no slab work.
Five heating modes
Eco through to Hybrid+ lets you tune how hard it works and when, around solar or a time-of-use tariff.

Straight talk
Who Aquatech suits — and who it doesn't
Good fit if…
- Direct electric storage replacements
- Solar homes wanting timer-driven daytime heating
- Cost-conscious owner-occupiers and rentals
- Hard or soft water areas where anodes normally suffer
Field pros
- • 5-year full system replacement warranty — not just parts
- • Impressed-current anode means no anode rod to replace
- • R290 refrigerant with Wi-Fi control and solar timers
- • Fits the footprint of the electric tank it replaces
Probably not for you if…
- Sub-zero alpine sites — heat pump runs to -5°C, element covers below that
- Buyers chasing a 7-year-plus tank warranty
- Indoor or fully enclosed installs — it needs clear air around it
Field cons
- • Labour cover stops at 2 years
- • Heat pump only runs to -5°C before the element steps in
- • Tuya app is functional rather than flash
Aquatech warranty
- 5 years full system replacement — tank, compressor and all components
- 2 years labour
- Warranty handled through Aquatech Solar Technologies in Australia
