The story
What Enviroheat is actually about
Enviroheat is the heat pump range from Southern Cross Water Heating, distributed and serviced nationally by Consolidated Energy out of Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Canberra. There's no app, no touch screen and no inverter — it's a straightforward monobloc built to swap in for an old electric tank and get on with it.
The clever bit is the heat exchanger. Instead of a copper coil, Enviroheat wraps a micro-channel condenser around the enamel-lined cylinder — more surface area against the tank wall and, on their own figures, about 7.5 times the corrosion resistance of copper pipe. Two sacrificial anodes back it up.
It runs on R134a rather than the newer R290, so the efficiency figures (COP 3.39–3.41 at 15°C) sit below the R290 and CO₂ leaders and you'll get fewer rebate certificates. What you get in return is a simple, cheap-to-install unit on a standard 10 amp plug that keeps pumping down to -7°C, with a weathershield included for exposed spots.
